Joy Messer, LPC

Psychotherapist
WV
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I provide a supportive and collaborative space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes. My approach is person-centered and practical, with a focus on helping individuals and families work through anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions while building on their strengths. My approach I believe therapy should feel like a safe space where we work together on what matters most to you. I use practical, down-to-earth strategies that help you understand patterns, build healthier coping skills, and make changes that last. My focus is on meeting you where you are and helping you move toward the life you want. My focus I enjoy working with kids, teens, and adults who may be feeling stressed, anxious, down, or overwhelmed by life changes. I also support families who are coping with substance use, relationship struggles, or school challenges. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you feel heard and encouraged as we work together on building confidence, balance, and healthier ways to cope. My communication style I try to make our time together feel safe, relaxed, and real. You can expect me to listen without judgment, be honest, and walk alongside you as we sort through what’s going on. I keep things conversational and supportive, so it feels more like working together than being talked at. My journey to mental healthcare I’ve always been drawn to helping others and found meaning in being the person people can turn to during hard times. My own experiences, along with years of working in the mental health field, showed me how powerful it is when someone feels truly heard and supported. What drives me as a therapist is seeing clients discover their strengths, heal from past pain, and start living in a way that feels more balanced and hopeful.
