Psychotherapist
NY
(Accepting new clients via telehealth) I've gathered over 15 years of experience in diverse fields including trauma, family/relationship issues, stress/life management, and psychoeducation. My formal studies at the State University of New York, Plattsburgh, focused on communication, intervention, and relationship building, culminating in a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Throughout the last several years, my work has evolved into a blended approach of conventional counseling techniques and complementary perspectives, including a life-coaching manner of personal growth, shamanic practices, and processes favoring creative life design from a strong, resilient perspective aimed at understanding, growth, and goal attainment. I firmly believe clients should start from where they can. I feel counseling to be a revolution of self, where clients are supported to look at their past for informative understanding while also looking ahead to be more intentional and in control of their lives. The aim is to help develop a deeper, more profound sense of self. I work with the mind-body connection, firmly believing we are able to rewire our brain and related behavioral patterns through therapy. Transformation is my passion! I build positive relationships and make it easy to talk about challenging topics. My therapeutic style is centered on a foundation of respect, compassion, and empowerment. Through our work together, we examine thought, behavior, and relationship patterns that may be holding you back. We process the past if it hinders the present and sabotages the way forward, develop new skills, and create a realistic approach toward the change you define.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My communication style My communication style is active, compassionate, and encouraging. My clients feel comfortable talking about everything knowing their victories will be celebrated and their intimacies regarded with respectful care. My journey to therapy I became a therapist because I wanted to understand the human condition and the desire for community, purpose, and meaning. I've always engaged with curiosity toward others and have an inclination toward personal growth which has been helpful throughout my career. It is incredibly rewarding work to help people challenge themselves to engage more fully in their lives and relationships. My goals for you I often find people come to therapy when they feel stagnation and dissatisfaction in some aspect of life. They know something needs to change and that they need intentional support to make these changes. I work with clients to develop a clear vision of their goals, address their challenges, and grow the courage and discipline to go after a more successful version of themselves. Goals of therapy often change as clients develop a deeper, more profound understanding of themselves and the therapeutic relationship.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session together is aimed at understanding your needs in therapy, how you've been feeling recently, and if/how this is impacting your outside life. I am active in therapy and willing to jump into the deeper aspects of what has brought you to the session as I find clients often feel a pressure to emotionally unburden themselves and these first sessions can provide that release as we begin to see the work needed.
