Getting to know Joy Welch

After graduating from the University of Houston with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, I earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the same institution, followed by being granted a license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have worked with families for over 25 years. Whether at Psychiatric Hospitals, Child Abuse Prevention Agencies, Child Advocacy Organizations, or Private Psychiatric Clinics, my professional focus has always been to work with women and families in need of support, guidance, and resources.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My goal for every therapy session is the hope that each client will leave feeling listened to, heard, valued, and respected. It is important that clients feel supported and safe in therapy to explore new skills, to recognize maladaptive thoughts and behavior patterns, and to feel they are gaining new skills while edging toward positive changes.

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
