Joyce Hopkins, Ph.D., earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. She is a licensed clinical psychologist with expertise in two areas: (1) women's mental health during pregnancy and the postpartum period; and (2) infant and early childhood development. Dr. Hopkins has extensive clinical experience working with parents and young children, as well as conducting research on women's emotional well-being during pregnancy, the postpartum period, and the first year of their infant's life. Her academic roles include serving as Co-Director of the Parent-Infant Development Service at the University of Chicago Medical Center and as a Professor of Clinical Psychology in the doctoral program at Illinois Institute of Technology. Her approach to working with pregnant and postpartum women begins with gaining an in-depth understanding of their expectations and individual needs to provide support that is tailored to each person. She has consulted with parents on common developmental issues such as establishing positive sleep routines and managing eating and separation challenges. Dr. Hopkins's research has resulted in over 30 papers published in scientific journals, and she is currently coauthoring a book with two colleagues on early childhood mental health.
