“Juan is absolutely fantastic! I did not know how powerful and life-changing therapy could be until I started working with Juan. I'm always impressed by how I can come into a session not knowing what to talk about and by the end of the session Juan has led the discussion into important and relevant topics that leave me feeling like we made great progress. I highly recommend Juan to anyone seeking to heal, grow, and understand their thoughts and feelings better.”

Getting to know Juan Ortega

As a psychotherapist, I emphasize the mutual development of goals for therapy and prefer a holistic, strength-based, person-centered approach. I earned my bachelor's degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and my Master's in Social Work from the University of Nevada. I have worked with children and adults, including the elderly, and spent over 10 years volunteering for youth groups throughout the Las Vegas area prior to joining Monument. A lover of nature and the outdoors, I also enjoy concerts and playing with my two beloved dogs.

What should a new client know about working with you?

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

I only did an intake with him, but he a) was unprepared, b) immediately started giving me advice before seeking to understand, and c) was judgmental and invalidating. He spent 13 of our 15 minute intake lecturing me, and finally I asked if we could take the last two minutes to discuss his therapeutic approach, which he wasn’t well prepared to answer (and is absolutely boilerplate for an intake). If you find the advice, “the way to deal with your anxiety is to stop thinking about things that make you anxious,” he’s your man. If you feel that a major psychiatric disorder is more nuanced than that, he’s probably not for you.
