Getting to know Juanita Viera
Juanita Viera is a Native New Yorker with elders from Puerto Rico. She identifies as a “Nuyorican” and has been surrounded by music and arts from an early age.
Juanita decided to pursue professional art education and applied to New York's "fame school," LaGuardia High School of the Performing Arts, where she was accepted as a student and majored in visual arts. After LaGuardia, Juanita received full scholarships to the University of Rochester, where she studied psychology and studio art. She went on to complete her Master's degree in Creative Arts Therapy at Nazareth College of Rochester.
Juanita entered the burgeoning DIY arts scene in Bushwick, Brooklyn, after completing her studies. Since then, she has been an active community member, creating therapeutic art programming in collaboration with local wellness elixir bars and nightlife dance events throughout Brooklyn.
Juanita is excited to launch her practice offering art therapy for healing trauma and creativity development services for collective wellbeing.

Juanita is very good at her job and an excellent therapist. I didn't have much experience in therapy and I thought she was especially good at dealing with a therapy beginner. I'm very grateful to her and happy I found her for therapy when I did.

I had the pleasure of seeing Juanita virtually for about a year. Luck would have it, right in the beginning of the pandemic! She was kind, insightful, and understanding. She's well versed in art therapy. I'm a queer artist and professional illustrator and she helped me sift through emerging patterns in my own work as well as through prompts/exercises in our sessions. Without a doubt she has been a extreme help in finding ground to stand on in our perpetually fluid world. 10/10 would recommend!

Juanita was an absolutely wonderful therapist. I worked with her for just over a year and really came to look forward to my sessions with her, especially when she pushed me out of my comfort zone. I grew a lot in the sessions and enjoyed her use of art as a therapeutic technique, which was something I really wanted to do before I began therapy. On top of that, she is non-judgemental, kind, and incredibly insightful. I really can't recommend her enough.
