“I worked with Juanita for many years. She was the first therapist I worked with and helped on many levels. I made a lot of progress and learned so much about myself during our time together. Juanita introduced me to art therapy, IFS, and many other helpful approaches including KAP. She also helped my partner and I find the right couples therapist. Her care and methods made me feel safe to try more intense forms of psychotherapy and I am living with less anxiety and more ease than ever before.”

Getting to know Juanita Viera

I'm Juanita Viera, LCAT, a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and founder of The Art of Integration in Brooklyn, NY. I specialize in helping adults navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, burnout, and creative blocks. Many of my clients are highly sensitive individuals, helping professionals, creatives, entrepreneurs, and people seeking deeper healing from past experiences. My approach combines traditional talk therapy with creative and experiential modalities, including art therapy, mindfulness, somatic awareness, and trauma-informed interventions. I believe healing is not only about understanding our experiences intellectually, but also learning how to reconnect with ourselves emotionally, physically, and creatively. As a Nuyorican therapist, I understand the complexities of navigating multiple cultural identities, family expectations, intergenerational patterns, and questions of belonging. I strive to create a culturally responsive and affirming space where clients can explore identity, relationships, family dynamics, and personal growth without judgment. In addition to individual therapy, I work with couples seeking to improve communication, strengthen connection, and navigate relationship challenges. I offer Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) and psychedelic integration services for clients interested in innovative approaches to healing trauma, depression, anxiety, and persistent emotional challenges. Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply ready for change, therapy can provide a space to gain insight, develop new tools, and move toward a more meaningful and fulfilling life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I provide a warm, collaborative, and culturally responsive approach to therapy. I specialize in helping adults navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, burnout, and creative blocks. As a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist, I believe healing happens through both insight and experience. While traditional talk therapy is often part of our work, I also incorporate mindfulness, somatic awareness, art therapy, and other experiential approaches when appropriate. No artistic experience is required. My practice is especially supportive for highly sensitive individuals, creatives, helping professionals, LGBTQ+ clients, first-generation Americans, and those seeking deeper self-understanding and personal growth. I also offer Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) and psychedelic integration services for clients interested in innovative approaches to healing trauma, depression, and anxiety. Together, we will identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, build practical coping tools, and work toward creating a life that feels more meaningful, connected, and aligned with your values.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session focuses on getting to know you and understanding what brings you to therapy. We will discuss your current concerns, personal history, relationships, strengths, and goals for treatment. This initial consultation also gives us an opportunity to determine whether we are a good fit for working together. After the assessment phase, we will create a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs and goals. Depending on your concerns, sessions may include traditional talk therapy, mindfulness practices, somatic techniques, creative arts interventions, attachment-focused exploration, and skills for managing stress, anxiety, and emotional regulation. I draw from evidence-based approaches including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness-based interventions, and Gottman-informed relationship work. For clients interested in deeper transformational work, Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy and psychedelic integration support may also be available. My goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can explore challenges, develop insight, strengthen resilience, and make meaningful changes both inside and outside of therapy.

Juanita is very good at her job and an excellent therapist. I didn't have much experience in therapy and I thought she was especially good at dealing with a therapy beginner. I'm very grateful to her and happy I found her for therapy when I did.
I had the pleasure of seeing Juanita virtually for about a year. Luck would have it, right in the beginning of the pandemic! She was kind, insightful, and understanding. She's well versed in art therapy. I'm a queer artist and professional illustrator and she helped me sift through emerging patterns in my own work as well as through prompts/exercises in our sessions. Without a doubt she has been a extreme help in finding ground to stand on in our perpetually fluid world. 10/10 would recommend!
Juanita was an absolutely wonderful therapist. I worked with her for just over a year and really came to look forward to my sessions with her, especially when she pushed me out of my comfort zone. I grew a lot in the sessions and enjoyed her use of art as a therapeutic technique, which was something I really wanted to do before I began therapy. On top of that, she is non-judgemental, kind, and incredibly insightful. I really can't recommend her enough.
