WY
Hi there, I'm Judith! Judy Coburn, MA, LPC, has been an educator and therapist for over thirty years. Students and clients alike have shared that her empathy and sense of humor have helped them through many a rough patch. “Funny, compassionate and dedicated, Judy goes the distance to be supportive and listens in a different way.” Co-winner (along with her dear friends) of two different state educational awards for work in multicultural awareness and peacemaking, Judy has a passion for promoting understanding and teaching positive conflict-resolution skills. As a training grant director, Judy fostered a collaboration with a host of wonderful national trainers to provide counseling training for counselors working in higher education. She has traveled domestically and in Germany as a military and family life counselor and has been a psychology and child development educator for many years. She continues working as a private counseling practitioner. Some of her passions include hiking, writing, and spending time with her three children and nine grandchildren. She was married for forty-eight years. She is the author of two self-help books for adults and 5 children's books. My approach I have an eclectic approach with strong emphasis on CBT and existential. My focus I have had really good success with couples, folks who are grieving, women's issues, those dealing with life transitions, men's issues, college students, etc. My communication style I am straight forward and do a lot of teaching. It is critical that together we create a safe, nurturing environment. There is usually a great deal of laughter about life in general. I have suffered a significant amount of grief in my life and feel I have some understanding about the process of grieving. My goals for you With enthusiasm and reason. Sometimes goals have to be tempered, a bit, while keeping great expectations and sometimes goals need some boosting and encouragement.
