Judith Cornelius, LPC

Psychotherapist
TX
Hi there, I'm Judith! Good day. I am Judith Cornelius, licensed in the state of Texas with active LMFT and LPC credentials. I hold a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University and have over 20 years of experience as a behavioral health professional. My areas of practice include, but are not limited to, relationships, family matters, problems at work, addiction/sobriety, depression/sadness, and the challenges of daily life. My approach My approach is systems-focused and problem-solving. I believe the client is the expert on the issues that bring them to therapy. My role is to assist clients in identifying problematic thinking and behavioral patterns, which opens the door to finding alternatives for overcoming most problems. Sometimes, people just need a fresh perspective on the difficulties of daily life—that is something I offer. My focus I typically work with adults on relationships, family matters, work-related problems, addiction/sobriety, depression/sadness, and everyday life challenges. My communication style I listen closely, ask questions, and explore how the client has tried to resolve the issue that brings them to therapy. I gently challenge the client’s thoughts and behaviors. Homework is key to “doing the work” between sessions. My journey to mental healthcare I became a therapist after working as a psychiatric technician in a mental health hospital while completing my undergraduate degree. I want people to live their best lives, recognize their strengths, feel better about who they are and what they have overcome, and look ahead with hope. My goals for you You set the goals. These may change as therapy progresses, which is common as your perspective evolves throughout the process. My first session with you You will share the issue that brings you to therapy. I will ask clarifying questions, and together we will develop an initial plan for therapy.
