Judy Thomas, LCSW

Psychotherapist
104 E Summit Ave, Wales, WI
Hello, and welcome. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with more than 20 years of experience helping people navigate life's challenges and create meaningful, lasting change. I work with both teens and adults, providing in-person therapy at my office in Wales, Wisconsin, as well as telehealth services throughout Wisconsin, Illinois, and Iowa. I believe that therapy is most effective when it is tailored to the individual rather than forcing people into a one-size-fits-all approach. My style is eclectic and collaborative, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based interventions, current neuroscience research, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), and my own lived experience. Together, we'll identify strategies that fit your unique personality, strengths, and goals. I have extensive experience working with individuals facing anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism, trauma, life transitions, relationship concerns, stress, and challenges with emotional regulation. My goal is to help you better understand yourself, build practical skills, and move toward a life that feels more authentic and fulfilling. I am committed to creating an affirming, judgment-free environment where you can show up exactly as you are. I have experience working with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, including diverse gender identities, sexual orientations, relationship structures, spiritual beliefs, and alternative lifestyles. My office is a safe, welcoming space where you can explore your thoughts, experiences, and identity without fear of judgment. Seeking help is a courageous first step, and you don't have to navigate life's challenges alone. Whether you're looking to manage symptoms, gain new coping skills, improve relationships, or better understand yourself, I would be honored to walk alongside you on your journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe mental health is about far more than reducing symptoms—it's about building a life that feels meaningful, authentic, and sustainable. Our thoughts, emotions, nervous system, relationships, physical health, and life experiences are deeply interconnected, so effective therapy looks at the whole person, not just a diagnosis. I see therapy as a collaborative process where we work together to understand patterns, develop practical skills, build resilience, and uncover your strengths. My goal isn't to "fix" you, because I don't believe you're broken. Instead, I help you better understand yourself, navigate life's challenges with greater confidence, and create lasting change that aligns with your values and the life you want to live.
