Getting to know Juli Waters

As a therapist with a Master's in Counseling Psychology from the University of Colorado Denver, my focus is on creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel seen, heard, and empowered. I believe healing happens through authentic connection, and I approach therapy with deep respect for each person's unique story, strengths, and struggles. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, or life transitions, my goal is to walk alongside you-offering compassion, insight, and tools to help you reconnect with yourself and move toward meaningful change. Therapy is a collaborative process, and together we will work to uncover what healing looks like for you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My therapeutic style is grounded in a deep respect for each client’s inner wisdom and resilience. I integrate EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) within a client-centered framework, which means I view you as the expert on your own experience. In our work together, we’ll move at your pace. EMDR can help gently unlock and process past traumas that may still be impacting your present life, while IFS invites us to explore the different “parts” of you—those protective, wounded, or wise aspects that all have a story and a purpose. I believe healing is not about “fixing” what’s broken, but about reconnecting with your whole self. My role is to hold space with curiosity, compassion, and trust in your capacity to heal and grow. Together, we’ll create a therapeutic relationship where you feel safe, empowered, and supported every step of the way.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In a typical session, we’ll begin by checking in—whether that’s exploring what’s present for you emotionally, physically, or mentally in the moment. Our time together is guided by your needs and goals, so sessions may include talking through current life challenges, identifying patterns, or deepening into past experiences that feel unresolved. When appropriate, we may use EMDR to gently process memories or beliefs that continue to impact your present life. You’ll always have control over the pace and depth of this work. We may also draw on Internal Family Systems, helping you connect with different parts of yourself—like the inner critic, the overwhelmed part, or the protective part—and understand their roles with curiosity and compassion. Every session is grounded in a client-centered approach: this is your space, and my role is to support you with presence, attunement, and a deep trust in your inner healing process. Some sessions may feel lighter and focused on insight or grounding, while others may go deeper into emotional processing—each one is unique, just like you.
