I'm Julia Hartman, LCSW, founder and clinical director of Glow Coaching & Consulting in Los Angeles and an adjunct professor. My clinical background is in medical social work and psychiatric emergency social worker, and I've been practicing for 15 years. I work primarily with women navigating dating, relationships, divorce, breakups, insecure attachment, anxiety, self-esteem, and relationship patterns that keep repeating. My approach is attachment-based and depth-oriented, drawing on Internal Family Systems parts work, somatic and nervous-system regulation, and attachment theory. Many clients come to me after previous therapy gave them insight but not change. I see clients in person in Sherman Oaks and via telehealth throughout California.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I'm warm and direct. I'll reflect what I'm noticing rather than nod along, and I'll ask about what sits underneath the story you come in with — how you learned to attach, how you learned to cope, and the relational patterns that are specifically yours. We work with the body as much as the narrative, so I'll often ask what you're noticing physically, not just what you're thinking. Sessions are collaborative and paced to your nervous system. There's room for humor, and room for the parts of you that feel too much to bring anywhere else.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session is a full intake: your history, what's happening now, and what brought you in at this particular moment. I'll also explain how I work so you can decide if it's a fit. Over the next few sessions we map the pattern: attachment history, family dynamics, past relationships, and where the same cycle keeps repeating. Then we set direction together. Ongoing sessions are approximately 50 minutes. A session might include parts work, somatic regulation, processing a current relationship dynamic, or reflective writing between sessions. I tailor sessions to your specific needs and goals.
