Julia Stegeman

Psychotherapist
MO
I am passionate about helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with compassion, understanding, and evidence-based care. Since 2017, I have worked with adults experiencing stress, anxiety, burnout, compassion fatigue, grief, life transitions, relationship concerns, and secondary trauma. I have specialized training in supporting first responders, healthcare professionals, teachers, and caregivers who devote so much of themselves to others that they often neglect their own well-being. As a Certified Compassion Fatigue Professional and an approved clinician with FRST Midwest, I understand the unique emotional demands these professions can place on individuals. My goal is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients can process difficult experiences, develop healthy coping strategies, and restore balance in their personal and professional lives. Whether you’re feeling emotionally exhausted, navigating a major life change, or simply looking for support, I am committed to helping you move forward with confidence and resilience.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I understand that asking for help isn’t always easy especially for people who spend their careers helping others. My approach is warm, collaborative, and practical. I strive to create a safe space where you can openly discuss what’s weighing on you without fear of judgment. Together, we’ll focus on identifying your strengths, exploring what’s contributing to your stress or emotional challenges, and developing realistic strategies that fit your life. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling supported, understood, and better equipped to manage life’s demand.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During our first session, we’ll discuss what brought you to therapy, review your history, and identify the goals that are most important to you. Together, we’ll create a personalized treatment plan based on your unique experiences, strengths, and needs. As therapy progresses, we’ll focus on building practical coping skills, processing difficult experiences, strengthening resilience, and working toward meaningful, lasting change. Throughout the process, we’ll regularly evaluate your progress and adjust our approach to ensure therapy continues to meet your goals.
