Getting to know Julia Woltjen

I am so glad you're here! Starting therapy can often feel like a massive undertaking, so please take a moment to acknowledge the significance of accomplishing this first step. Regardless of whether you are a regular in therapy or a first-timer, my goal in every session is to be approachable, safe, and non-judgmental. I believe that you are the expert on yourself, so I will always be curious about your experience and collaborate with you in sessions. My clinical approach is person-centered, trauma-informed, and holistic, since you are more than the issues that inspired you to seek therapy. As an art therapist, I know firsthand the power of both verbal and non-verbal communication. Whether or not you choose to make art in our sessions, I will focus on all forms of communication and connection. I wholeheartedly believe that everyone has the potential for change within themselves, and I am passionate about helping my clients discover that power. While I have experience with many different ages and diagnoses, I am particularly interested in working with children, young adults, and adults who are experiencing anxiety, stress, life transitions, and relationship challenges. When collaborating with clients, I pull from various therapeutic modalities: Art Therapy Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Motivational Interviewing Play Therapy Strength-based Therapy Person-Centered Therapy

Julia is an excellent art therapist and psychotherapist. She radiates warmth, humility, and professionalism in her practice. I am beyond grateful to have worked with Julia, and have found her techniques to be incredibly useful. Julia shapes an intimate, affirming, and trusting environment as a therapist. I have always felt comfortable, and genuinely seen and heard by her.
I was not sure what to expect from Art Therapy but had a great experience with Julia. She helped me feel very comfortable. She has a very kind and gentle demeanor and a knack for speaking with respect and courtesy. I’ll definitely go back!
Julia is a kind and thoughtful listener. She is always one to empathize and provide sound judgement, while also remaining fun to be around! She’s been a very important part of my growth, and I continue to learn from her despite the many years between us.
Julia made me feel safe and comfortable opening up even when I felt my most vulnerable. She makes me feel like she sees me as a person before any of my symptoms or challenges. I appreciate that she can offer a wide range of ways to process in session both with verbal and art therapy and is always flexible. I highly recommend Julia!
Julia is a compassionate listener and really made me feel heard. She took the time to understand everything I spoke about in our sessions and helped me build more compassion for myself.
Very professional and approachable.
Julia has helped me grow so much in my time with her. She has gently challenged me and made me feel so comfortable in the therapeutic space. She has been so understanding and helped me dive into the “why” behind difficult emotions. I have been in therapy before and my experience with Julia has by far been the best. I’m so thankful for our work together and can’t recommend her enough!
Julia is amazing, I can’t recommend her enough!
Julia is an incredible therapist. She is sensitive to individual needs and provides a wide variety of support avenues based on what you come in with. I have never had another therapist like her and cannot recommend her highly enough!
Julia made me feel comfortable and at ease immediately. She allowed me to share my topics at my pace, but when I accelerated my disclosure, I was pleasantly surprised that Julia had stayed with me and asked some very interesting and insightful questions for me to internalize. She gave me helpful homework that allowed me to work on my issues off the clock. She helped me a ton!
Julia is continually able to come up with real world analogies that help me to work through situations. She’s always a smiling face that allows me to feel welcome and share openly. Highly recommend!!
