Getting to know Dr. Juliana Genovese-Doyle

Hi, I’m a licensed clinical psychologist based in New York. I received my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Derner School of Psychology at Adelphi University and have trained in a variety of clinical settings, including the St. Albans VA, Rusk Rehabilitation at NYU Langone, Nassau University Medical Center, and private practice. My work focuses on helping individuals navigate trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, OCD, anger management, identity concerns, grief, and the complexities of personality patterns. I strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can explore your experiences, understand yourself more deeply, and build a life that feels more grounded and meaningful.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to therapy is integrative. While my foundations are rooted in psychodynamic theory—helping patients understand the deeper patterns, emotions, and relational dynamics that shape their lives—I also incorporate evidence-based strategies from DBT, CBT, and mindfulness. This allows me to tailor treatment so it’s both insight-oriented and practical. I strive to create a therapeutic space that is warm, humorous when appropriate, and deeply empathic, yet also grounded in honesty and directness. I value building a trusting relationship where patients feel genuinely seen and supported. In the early stages of therapy, I focus on helping patients develop strong coping skills and emotional tools. Once those supports are in place, we move toward exploring the deeper themes that may be contributing to current challenges.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first session, I’ll invite you to share what brings you in and a bit about your history so I can understand what you’re experiencing in a fuller way. We’ll take things at your pace and focus on creating a warm, safe connection. By the end of the session, we’ll have begun to outline your goals and what you’d like your therapy journey to look like.
