I believe that therapy is an interpersonal process that helps people grow and make life adjustments. The main purpose of therapy is to help people develop the skills to assess values, to set priorities, to plan, to consider outside factors, to exert control and make changes where they can and to gain insight into themselves and relationships with others. My experience spans 30+ years of working with a variety of people of all ages and backgrounds. I utilize cognitive-behavioral techniques, solution-focused brief techniques, mindfulness in order to practice being in the moment, talk therapy in relation to thoughts, feelings and assumptions, a family systems approach, and holistic approach so treatment is tailored to the client. My specialty areas include depression, anxiety, grief & loss, life transitions, stress, trauma events, developmental stages throughout a life span, adolescent development and mental health, and family systems. I received my Bachelors of Arts in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wisconsin, my Masters of Arts in Psychology from the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado, and my Masters of Arts in Counseling and Human Services from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, Colorado. I received my Licensed Professional Counselor license in 1996, and have been practicing in a variety of settings throughout my practice. I currently have a part time private practice in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In addition, I have experience as a counselor in public education. My purpose and hope is to help you in your life journey by focusing on what is happening in your present life so you may move toward the healthy/positive life you envisioned for yourself.
