I have experience working in diverse settings, including mental health, medical, substance abuse, foster care/human services, children, I/DD, adolescents, and adults, as well as family and individual counseling. I am very comfortable facilitating groups. All of this has provided me with the knowledge, experience, and skills to be an effective social worker, serving communities, families, and individuals with empathy, dignity, respect, and integrity. My approach Therapy is based on individual and family needs. I use a client-centered approach. My theoretical approach includes cognitive restructuring, emotion regulation, and solution-focused techniques. My focus I have experience with diverse populations, such as individuals, families, marital couples, gender/sexual identity, substance abuse, adolescents, and geriatrics. My communication style I provide a safe place for clients to open up and address their concerns. I'm not your most conventional therapist-I keep it real and demonstrate effective communication skills. My journey to mental healthcare Being raised in a highly dysfunctional family, I felt as though I'd always been a social worker. I am highly empathetic to those in need and have a strong desire to help improve a person's life and functioning level. My goals for you I use a client-centered approach that enables clients to develop realistic, sustainable goals. My first session with you I will utilize Motivational Interviewing to gather biopsychosocial information to identify problematic issues.
