Julie Dennis, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Julie! My name is Julie Dennis. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a Master's in Counseling from National University. I help clients look to the future with hope using insight and problem-solving within a Christian and faith-based perspective. My approach My approach to therapy emphasizes Strengths-Based Cognitive-Behavioral Treatment to help my clients see the best in themselves while navigating life stressors. I believe that traveling with my clients on their faith and life journey can create a resilient and hopeful worldview. I am certified in Art Therapy and Applied Behavior Analysis and use techniques from both disciplines in my therapy to guide clients to resolution, effective communication, and growth. My focus I have worked extensively with children, teens, and parents facing neurodevelopmental disorders (ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, learning disorders, communication disorder), behavioral disorders, and school-related challenges (including 504 and IEP advocacy). I also work with adults and parents moving through life transitions who are seeking a sign of hope in their world. My communication style I communicate in a reflective style, seeking to understand my clients' perspectives, reflecting back on their strengths and challenges, while encouraging them to dig deeper to formulate new ideas and foster spiritual growth. Clients who work with me say they feel understood and able to grow healthy patterns in their behavior and relationships with others and their faith. My journey to mental healthcare I initially began my professional career as an Art Teacher when I first saw how the process of making art and relationship building could be a strong healing force. My next steps were to become a therapist, specializing in Art Therapy. As I worked with children and teens with neurodevelopmental and behavioral disabilities, I realized what a powerful tool therapy was for so many of my clients.
