Getting to know Julie Tollu

ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS! Hi! I am a French and American therapist. I grew up in France and moved to the US in my early twenties. I pursued psychological studies and completed a Master’s in Social Work in New York. After that, I moved to Texas and obtained my LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) certification. I have been providing clinical therapy services for more than eight years and have worked for various companies. I began my career in a program for clients with Autism, then moved on to provide family therapy services. I later joined a supportive housing program, where I helped young adults with mental health challenges become independent. For the past two and a half years, I have worked with clients in an outpatient program, helping those dealing with mental health issues such as psychosis, schizophrenia, dementia, anxiety, anger issues, mood disorders, etc. During this time, I also delivered psychosocial services to individuals on probation. As a mother of two children, I understand how difficult it can be to find time for yourself while balancing work and family life. I have experience working with children, teens, adults, and the elderly, though I typically see clients 12 years and older, as younger children often need play therapy, which is not ideal for telehealth sessions. I am a genuine, honest person with a good sense of humor. I strongly believe in teamwork and that client participation is key. I provide feedback and coping skills during sessions, focusing on each person’s needs to create a plan that will work in the long run. My goal is to create a safe space where you can speak freely without fear of judgment and work through your struggles. If you are motivated to talk and make changes in your life, I believe I can be the right person to help. Let’s work together to bring you the peace of mind you deserve!

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am here to listen and provide assistance to help you navigate your mental health journey. Through our therapy sessions, you will gain strategies to understand your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and will develop coping strategies to manage symptoms more effectively, from difficult situations to mental health problems. You will receive a supportive space to express yourself, leading you toward personal growth and the accomplishment of your goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach uses evidence-based therapies with a client-centered perspective, to answer each person's unique needs and expectations. With a background in individual, couple and family therapy, I specialize in managing diverse mental health and life issues. Collaboration with clients is important to me to build resilience and achieve lasting change. I believe in creating a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel supported and heard to achieve their goals.
