Psychotherapist
FL
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially when you’re used to handling everything on your own. My goal is to create a space where you can show up as yourself without feeling like you have to say the “right” thing or have everything figured out. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, life transitions, relationship challenges, stress, and feeling overwhelmed or stuck. My approach is warm, conversational, and collaborative. I believe therapy can be comfortable and human while still being intentional and focused on helping you make meaningful changes. I’m not the kind of therapist who will simply sit back and nod for the entire session. I’ll listen, ask questions, help you recognize patterns, offer new perspectives, and gently challenge you when it may help you move forward. At the same time, I understand that change doesn’t happen overnight. Sometimes we take big steps, and sometimes we take baby steps. Both count. My work is informed by evidence-based approaches, including CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, and EMDR when clinically appropriate. Treatment is individualized because what works for one person may not be what works for you. At New Steps Care, therapy is about creating a space where you can better understand yourself, develop tools that work in your everyday life, process what you’ve been carrying, and begin taking your next steps forward.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy with me is a space where you can show up as you are. You don’t have to have the perfect words, know exactly what you want to work on, or have everything figured out before we start. My style is warm, conversational, and down-to-earth, but I’m also going to gently challenge you when needed. I believe therapy should be more than just talking about the same problems week after week—we’ll work together to understand what’s keeping you stuck and identify practical steps toward meaningful change. At the same time, I don’t believe in rushing the process. Sometimes progress means making a big change, and sometimes it means taking one small step that you weren’t ready to take before. We’ll move at a pace that feels manageable while still working toward the goals that brought you to therapy. At New Steps Care, the goal is simple: meet you where you are, help you understand yourself more deeply, and support you as you take your next steps forward.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We’ll start by getting to know you—what’s bringing you to therapy, what’s been going on in your life, and what you’d like to be different. You don’t have to come into the first session with everything figured out. Part of my job is helping you make sense of what you’re experiencing and identifying where we should start. From there, we’ll work together to create goals that actually feel relevant to your life. Depending on your needs, our sessions may include exploring patterns, building coping skills, processing difficult experiences, challenging unhelpful thoughts, or learning new ways to manage emotions and relationships. My approach is collaborative and flexible. I may give you things to think about or practice between sessions, and I’ll check in with you about what is and isn’t working. I’m not here to tell you how to live your life, but I will ask questions, offer a different perspective, and challenge you when I think it can help you grow. Most importantly, therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. We’ll take things step by step, adjust as needed, and continue working toward meaningful changes that you can carry into your everyday life.
