Getting to know June Dean-Villatoro

Hi, my name is June Dean-Villatoro, and I'm a licensed therapist specializing in helping anxious overachievers, people pleasers, and those navigating difficult life transitions learn how to self-advocate, set boundaries, and manage their mood and anxiety. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from California State University, Northridge. The majority of my practice focuses on providing clients with the tools they need to manage Anxiety, OCD, Trauma, and Depression. I have a direct, humorous, and holistic approach that utilizes the following modalities: CBT, DBT, ERP, Prolonged Exposure Therapy for PTSD, Motivational Interviewing, and Psychodynamic.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am a certified CBT and ERP therapist, and I am passionate about helping my clients regain their power and control over their life and symptoms so that they can heal from the past and live a fulfilling life. I have first-hand experience navigating life's challenges as a BIPOC. My passion for therapy stems from my own interpersonal struggles navigating mental health in a culture and community that did not recognize or understand mental health as a whole. Through my own mental health journey, I grew passionate about helping other BIPOC find healing.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I utilize an array of modalities and frameworks to guide treatment and help my clients reach their therapeutic goals. I operate under the belief that humans are complex and no one modality will work for everyone, therefore I customize my modalities based on my clients needs and goals. When working with me you can expect a warm, uplifting, and client centered approach. I value the therapeutic relationship above all else and I believe that in order for true change and healing to occur one needs to feel safe, validated, and fully seen.
