Getting to know Kaci Lapp

Engaging in counseling can be a difficult and scary process. My goal is to help you meet your mental health goals by creating and fostering a warm and accepting environment where we can address and tackle the obstacles preventing you from living your best life. I espouse a person-centered, humanistic approach to create a nonjudgmental counseling environment and provide trauma-informed care. I utilize cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral, rational emotive, and Adlerian approaches to therapy to help you "unpack" emotional baggage and identify thoughts, behaviors, and other factors that may be standing in the way of your peace. I received my bachelor's degree in psychology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, in December 2009. I completed my graduate work and earned my master's degree in counseling and human development at Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio, in August 2013. My education led me to several community mental health agencies, where I have spent the last 11 years working with adolescents and adults managing symptoms of severe and persistent mental illnesses. I have experience supporting individuals with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, PTSD, personality disorders, and psychotic disorders. I provide therapy in both individual and couples' sessions. I am passionate about teaching skills and techniques that help people better manage symptoms, reduce stress, and live full, successful, meaningful lives. When I’m not working, I enjoy being in nature, walking my dog, spending time with my family, reading, and attending live music events or comedy shows! I look forward to accompanying you on your journey toward peace of mind and improved mental health.
