I’m Kaelyn, a New York native now residing in North Carolina. I earned my Bachelor’s in Social Work from Molloy University in 2020 and my Master’s in Social Work from Fordham University in 2021. My early experience includes internships with LGBTQ+-focused nonprofits and youth gang prevention and intervention programs, where I provided group facilitation and individual counseling to children and teens in at-risk communities. I also served as a Peace Corps Education Volunteer for two years, which deepened my appreciation for cultural diversity and gave me experience helping peers navigate complex challenges. I’m currently pursuing licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA), and I’m passionate about providing compassionate, culturally responsive care to children, teens, and families. I believe healing begins within a safe, authentic therapeutic relationship, and my goal is to create a warm, non-judgmental space where you feel truly seen, heard, and supported.

What should a new client know about working with you?

If you’re bringing in a child or teen, I meet them where they’re comfortable — using conversation, creativity, and play-based techniques to help them express themselves — while focused on building their confidence, emotional regulation, and success at school and in relationships. For adults, I provide a supportive, collaborative space to work through life transitions, stress, and emotional challenges, helping you build insight and coping skills that create meaningful, lasting change. Whatever brings you in, you can expect empathy, cultural responsiveness, and genuine connection — I want you to feel truly supported as you move toward growth and resilience.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Before your first session, our Client Care Coordinator, Heather, will reach out to complete paperwork and make sure I’m a good match for what you’re looking for — so we can focus on you from the beginning. For adults, the first few sessions are about getting to know you, understanding what brings you to therapy, and identifying what you’d like to change or work toward. From there, I tailor therapy to your individual needs and goals. You’re the expert on your own life, and I bring the clinical knowledge and tools. Together, we’ll decide what feels most helpful and adjust along the way. For teens, a parent joins for part of the first session before I begin meeting individually with the teen. For younger children, the first session is parents only, with both parents encouraged to attend. If parents are divorced, both must consent to treatment. After that, I meet with your child using developmentally appropriate approaches such as Child-Centered Play Therapy, art, and sand tray therapy. I also meet with parents every 4–6 weeks to discuss progress and ways to support goals at home. Regardless of age, therapy is collaborative, individualized, and designed to grow and change with you.
