Getting to know Kailyn Donovan

I have had a wide array of experience post-grad school, having earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Georgia. I started off in Child Welfare, where I investigated reports of child abuse and neglect, supporting children of all ages throughout the life of the case. I then transitioned to Foster Care, serving as an individual therapist for both children and their families, with a focus on transitions, emotion processing, and coping skills. Most recently, I have been working with young children diagnosed with Autism in a clinic setting, where our work centers on peer engagement, social skill development, emotion processing, and coping skills. I also hold training certificates in Crisis Prevention and CPR.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I strive to make my space a safe and supportive one, open to anyone from any background with any type of need. I strive to make the conversations open and client-led, while working to utilize my therapeutic background to personalize tools and skills for each client and their unique needs and challenges. The therapy experience is meant to provide a comforting and safe space to talk and collaborate with your therapist in a different way than is done with others.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Building coping skills, building social skills, working through previous models and tools that were used and did not work for the client, allowing the client to determine what type of support they want and need to better themselves during our time together. A lot of client-led/client-determined type therapy!
