Getting to know Kaitlin Messier

I am here to create a safe environment that will support you on your path toward change. I have a passion for helping people conquer their past trauma, family issues, personal struggles - and move into a free and peaceful future. My clients and I often work on immediate, in-the-moment skills and techniques. However my main approach is a long term focus on the big picture of a client's issues. I want my clients to leave me with new, helpful perspectives that stick with them for the rest of their lives. I have a therapeutic emphasis on systems (family, friends, relationships, community) and how these systems affect my clients.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am a culturally sensitive therapist, affirming of LGBTQ+ identities and ethically non-monogamous relationships. My style is direct, empathetic, and supportive. I want my clients to be informed of and involved in the whole therapeutic process. I believe therapy is a collaborative process, and look forward to working with you to help you reach your goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Though I work with a variety of issues, I have particular interest/experience in anxiety, trauma, ADHD, family of origin issues, chronic illness, and recovery from emotional abuse. I have been an approved Prepare/Enrich facilitator for over a decade (a premarital counseling and parenting preparation program).
