If you’re here, you’re probably feeling a bit overwhelmed, and I want you to know: it is okay to not be okay right now. I’m Kait Towner, and I’m a therapist who specializes in the "unfiltered" side of motherhood. Whether you’re navigating the "what-ifs" of pregnancy, struggling with postpartum depression, or trying to process a birth experience that didn't go as planned, I’m here to help you find your footing again. I’m a mom myself, so I get it. I’ve navigated my own complex birth journeys, and I know that parenthood is often much messier than the highlight reels we see online. My sessions aren't stiff or clinical—they’re down-to-earth, honest, and collaborative. I’m not here to just nod and listen; I’m here to help you get to the root of your pain so you can actually start enjoying your life and your family again. How I Help: In my virtual practice, we skip the small talk and dive into what matters. I use specialized tools like Brainspotting to help process trauma and deep emotional blocks, along with CBT and Interpersonal Psychotherapy to help you manage the day-to-day "mom worry." Why Work With Me? Zero Judgment: Come as you are—messy bun, yoga pants, and coffee in hand. My cats might even make a cameo in our video sessions. Specialized Expertise: I am Perinatal Mental Health Certified (PMH-C), meaning I have specific training to support you through pregnancy, loss, and postpartum. Convenience: We meet online, so you can get the support you need without the stress of finding childcare or fighting traffic. You don’t have to keep "just getting through the day." If you’re ready to move from surviving to thriving, I’d love to chat.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I’m not a "blank slate" therapist. When we work together, you’re getting a real person who is an active participant in your sessions. I’m a mom of two who has lived through my own complex birth stories, so I’m not just speaking from a textbook—I truly get the "unfiltered" side of parenthood. I lead with humor, storytelling, and zero judgment. Our first session is low-pressure. Think of our first meeting as a chance to exhale. We’ll spend 45–55 minutes getting to know each other, untangling what’s currently on your plate, and seeing if we’re a good fit. You don't need to have a perfect "agenda"—you just need to show up as you are. I want to work myself out of a job. I don't believe you should be in therapy forever unless that’s something you truly want. My goal is to get to the root of what's keeping you stuck—using tools like Brainspotting or CBT—so you can get relief and get back to your life feeling like yourself again. The "Virtual Office" Perks. My practice is fully online across New York State, which means your couch is your therapy office. You don’t need to worry about childcare acrobatics or traffic. Feel free to log on in your pajamas with a coffee in hand. If one of my cats decides to make a cameo on screen, consider it a bonus! I respect your time. As a parent, I know how precious your time is. I offer a "one freebie" policy per year for a missed or cancelled appointment because I know life with kids is unpredictable. Beyond that, I just ask for 24 hours' notice so we can keep your progress on track.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process is all about making things feel manageable from the very first click. I know that when you’re struggling, the last thing you need is a complicated system, so I keep things straightforward and collaborative. 1. The Initial Meet-Up: We start with a 45–55 minute intake session. This isn’t an interrogation; it’s a conversation. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, what your daily life looks like right now, and—most importantly—what you want to feel like when we’re done. It’s also a time for you to see if you like my vibe. 2. Getting to the Root: Once we’re comfortable, we move beyond just "venting." While I’m always here to listen to your week, I like to dig deeper. If you’re feeling stuck or haunted by a difficult birth or past trauma, we might use Brainspotting. It’s a specialized way to help your brain process things that talk therapy alone sometimes can’t reach. We’ll also use CBT or Interpersonal Therapy to give you "right now" tools for managing anxiety and communication. 3. Active Collaboration: I’m an active therapist. I’ll share resources, tell stories, and sometimes challenge the thoughts that are keeping you stuck. We’ll regularly check in on your goals to make sure you’re actually feeling a difference in your day-to-day life. 4. Graduating from Therapy: As you start to feel more like yourself—reclaiming your joy and feeling confident in your parenting—we’ll talk about "graduating." We might move to bi-weekly or monthly sessions before ending our regular work. My ultimate goal is to get you to a place where you feel empowered to handle the ups and downs of life without needing me in your ear every week.
