Kaitlyn Orear, LPC

Psychotherapist
IL
When working with me, you can expect a deeply compassionate, non-judgmental, and trauma-informed therapeutic relationship. I strive to create a space built on warmth, curiosity, and acceptance, prioritizing your safety, choice, and control throughout your healing journey. I listen carefully, not just to your words, but to the emotions and lived experiences beneath them. Our work together is designed to help you feel seen, respected, and empowered, creating the foundation for sustainable growth and lasting change. I am committed to anti-oppressive and decolonizing therapeutic practices. This involves recognizing the profound impact that systems of marginalization have on mental health by naming, acknowledging, and pushing back on harmful narratives. My approach is to see the whole person, not just the symptomology, operating from the belief that nothing is inherently “wrong with you.” We will work to understand the root and intersectionality of trauma through a holistic and culturally oriented lens. Our initial focus will center on ensuring support, stabilization, and the development of effective coping and grounding skills. From there, we will collaboratively explore your current challenges, past or present important life experiences, and establish a clear framework for meeting your goals. My practice integrates evidence-based and relational approaches, including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Compassion-Focused Therapy Relational Cultural Theory (RCT) My core values- dignity, compassion, and consent- guide my practice. I approach culture and system stressors by following your lead, gently challenging biases, advocating alongside you when necessary, and protecting your autonomy within a shame-free environment. To maintain professional integrity, I ensure I remain grounded through ongoing clinical supervision, professional development training, and regular sessions with my own therapist.
