What should a new client know about working with you?

When we work together, my priority is creating a space where your child feels safe, understood, and supported. I know that therapy can sometimes feel intimidating, so I strive to make the process approachable and even enjoyable for kids and teens. I use a blend of talk, play, and skill-building activities tailored to your child’s developmental stage, interests, and needs. I believe in collaboration—not only with the child, but with parents, caregivers, and, when appropriate, teachers and school staff. Together, we identify goals, celebrate progress, and problem-solve challenges in ways that feel realistic and empowering. I view therapy as a team effort where every voice matters. Families working with me can expect compassion, patience, and a focus on strengths. I encourage children to express themselves openly, build confidence, and practice new coping strategies in a supportive environment. My goal is to help your child feel capable, resilient, and better equipped to handle life’s ups and downs—while also supporting you as a parent or caregiver in the process.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When you schedule a first appointment, our administrative team will reach out to complete intake paperwork and verify insurance. During the initial sessions, I spend time getting to know your child and your family’s unique needs. This includes discussing concerns, reviewing background information, and setting goals together. These early sessions are focused on building trust and creating a safe, supportive space where your child feels comfortable. As therapy progresses, I tailor each session to meet your child’s developmental level and personality, incorporating a mix of talk, play, and skills practice. We work on developing coping strategies, increasing emotional awareness, and strengthening communication and relationships at home and school. Parents and caregivers are included throughout the process, whether through regular check-ins, collaborative planning, or learning tools to support progress outside of the therapy room. My approach is active, collaborative, and flexible. I adjust the pace and focus of therapy based on your child’s progress, challenges, and goals, while always keeping open communication with you as a parent or caregiver. Over time, we track growth together and celebrate your child’s successes—big and small—on their path toward greater confidence and resilience.
