Your teen may be bright, caring, and capable and still feel overwhelmed by anxiety, intense emotions, school pressure, friendship changes, low self-esteem, or uncertainty about who they are. They may shut down, become easily frustrated, or struggle to explain what is happening beneath the surface. Kali creates a warm, nonjudgmental space where teens can feel understood without feeling pressured or judged. Kali especially enjoys working with adolescents and young adults who want to better understand themselves, manage big emotions, build confidence, and develop healthier ways of coping. Her approach is compassionate, collaborative, and practical, incorporating DBT-informed skills to help clients improve emotional regulation, communication, self-awareness, and resilience. She meets each client where they are and helps them recognize that they are more than the challenges bringing them to therapy.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You do not need to have the perfect words or even know exactly what is wrong before coming to therapy. I create a warm, relaxed, and nonjudgmental space where you can show up as yourself and talk at your own pace. I especially enjoy helping teens and young adults navigate anxiety, big emotions, school stress, identity, relationships, and self-confidence. Therapy with me is collaborative and practical. You will be listened to and supported, but we will also work together to develop skills you can use in everyday life. My goal is for therapy to feel like a place where you are understood not another place where you are being corrected, lectured, or told who you should be.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first sessions focus on getting to know you, understanding what has been feeling difficult, and identifying what you would like to change. You do not have to share everything immediately; building trust is part of the process. For adolescent clients, a parent or guardian may participate in part of the initial session so we can understand their concerns and discuss treatment goals. I also make space for the teen to begin developing their own comfortable and trusting therapeutic relationship. From there, we will create individualized goals and work on understanding emotions, identifying patterns, strengthening communication, and building healthier coping skills. Depending on your needs, sessions may include DBT-informed strategies, emotional-regulation tools, mindfulness, problem-solving, and exploring identity, relationships, and personal strengths. We will regularly check in about what is helping and adjust our approach together.
