Getting to know Kamela Qirjo

I welcome individuals who are ready to better understand themselves, improve their relationships, and create meaningful change in their lives. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, direct, and grounded in depth-oriented psychotherapy. You can use Zocdoc to schedule an appointment or request a consultation, and I look forward to connecting when you’re ready.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My therapeutic approach is psychodynamic and relational, with a focus on increasing awareness of the emotional and interpersonal patterns that shape your current experiences. We will work collaboratively to understand how past relationships, attachment dynamics, stress, and identity have influenced the ways you think, feel, and respond in the present. Many of my clients are high-achieving individuals who experience anxiety, burnout, relational disconnection, or unresolved attachment trauma. I also specialize in men’s emotional health and multicultural identity concerns. In our work, I aim to create a reflective, non-judgmental space where you can better understand your internal world — while also supporting accountability for the choices, boundaries, and behaviors that promote growth and psychological well-being. My style is warm, attuned, and grounded in clinical insight. I offer empathy and curiosity, while also being appropriately direct when patterns are keeping you stuck. Together, we balance self-compassion with personal responsibility, so that awareness leads to meaningful and sustainable change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My work begins with a thorough intake process so I can understand your history, current concerns, and goals for therapy. During the first 1–2 sessions, I gather background information about your relationships, emotional experiences, work life, stressors, and important life events. We’ll also clarify what you hope to gain from therapy and discuss how we’ll work together. In ongoing sessions, the focus is typically talk therapy using a psychodynamic and relational lens. This means we explore not only what is happening in your life now, but also the patterns, beliefs, and attachment experiences that may be contributing to it. I pay careful attention to your emotional responses, nervous system cues, and relational dynamics — including how these may show up in the therapy space. My style is reflective, warm, and clinically informed. I will help you increase awareness of underlying themes and behavioral patterns, while also supporting appropriate accountability and proactive change. Over time, the goal is to deepen your understanding of yourself and develop more intentional, grounded ways of relating to others and to your inner world. Treatment is collaborative. We move at a thoughtful pace, and you are always encouraged to share what is or isn’t working so the process remains supportive, effective, and aligned with your goals.
