What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe that therapy isn't a one size fits all situation. With that said, I tailor my approaches to meet the unique individual needs of each client. The main theoretical approaches that I use are person-centered, CBT, and DBT, but I am knowledgeable and utilize a variety of different approaches as well. Therapy is all about the client so I believe in it being a collaborative experience between the client and I. The client can expect an empathetic, nonjudgmental, caring therapeutic relationship with me. I will go above and beyond to help my clients reach that happiness, but it's also in the client's hands. They get out of therapy what they put in, and therapy is hard but necessary work.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

First Session: Initial diagnostic session-we will talk about what's bringing you to therapy, what your goals are, what feelings, moods, emotions you've been experiencing, what symptoms you've been experiencing, and come up with goals you would like to achieve by the end of the therapeutic experience. First few sessions: The most important part is building the therapeutic relationship and trust, so the first few sessions I will spend time building that with you so that you are comfortable opening up and talking with me. After: We will start working towards those goals one by one (you pick which goal you would like to tackle first and we will work on that together) utilizing evidenced-based theoretical approaches. Some session there may be thing that come up in your life that you need to process or vent or talk about that has nothing to do with the goal we are working on and that's okay. As stated earlier this is your process and we work on or talk about what is needed for you in the session.
