Kamone Hyman, LCSW

Psychotherapist
TX
Hi, my name is Kamone’ Hyman, LMSW (he/him), AKA Your Friendly Gay Neighborhood Social Worker! I work with clients who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unseen, often navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, identity-related stress, or major life transitions. Many are BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA+ individuals seeking a therapist who understands the impact of systemic stressors and creates a space where they can show up authentically. Clients come to therapy wanting understanding, support, and practical tools to build self-worth, set healthier boundaries, process past experiences, and create meaningful, sustainable change in their lives. I help my clients navigate trauma, mood concerns, and life transitions. As someone with lived experience, I use TF-CBT, DBT skills, Motivational Interviewing, and person-centered therapy to provide a supportive, affirming space for building coping skills, self-worth, and sustainable healing. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure where to start, you’re not alone and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. Therapy can be a supportive space to feel seen, build clarity, and begin healing. When you’re ready, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I use a collaborative, trauma-informed approach that centers clients as the experts of their own lives. Therapy is guided by your story and the goals you want to work toward. I draw from TF-CBT, DBT skills, Motivational Interviewing, and person-centered therapy to support insight, emotional regulation, and meaningful change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I work with clients navigating depression, trauma, and emotional distress related to relationships, family dynamics, identity, and life transitions. In early sessions, we explore your story and collaborate on a plan for healing and growth. Many clients begin to notice greater clarity, relief, and improved coping skills within the first few weeks.
