Getting to know Kandie Brown

Hi, my name is Kandie Brown. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master’s degree in Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University, San Antonio, TX. I follow a systemic approach to therapy and believe that to understand people and their challenges, it is important to understand the systems and relationships they are a part of. I believe the therapeutic relationship should be authentic, collaborative, and feel safe and supportive. I focus on the client’s strengths and resiliency and strive to help clients find tools to cope with life’s stresses. My approach I use a humanistic approach, CBT, CBT-SP, TF-CBT, existential, EMDR, narrative, solution-focused, mindfulness, and other modalities tailored to the client’s needs. I aim to help clients develop more adaptive habits that lead to meaningful and fulfilling lives. I have experience supporting clients with stress, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. My focus I work with children, adults, and families struggling with relationship issues, work stress, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and other conditions. My communication style I collaborate with clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps toward change. I am here to support and empower you on that journey. My journey to mental healthcare Before becoming a therapist, I worked for various nonprofits, in education, and in the mental health field for many years. I absolutely love supporting others on their journey to wellness. As human beings, we need to feel heard and validated, especially during difficult times. I am here to create a safe space for my clients. My goals for you I work with clients to develop treatment plan goals and discuss various modalities to target behaviors and decrease symptoms.

I worked with Kandie for a year. Accomplished all my goals and moved on to a different therapist. The therapist was not as good a fit and I went back to working with Kandie and continuing to accomplish goals with her. I highly respect her and her approach. She is understanding, professional, and challenges me in the ways that I need to be challenged.
Kandie is an excellent therapist. She is always very helpful and cheerful. She provides useful advise and is supportive. I would highly recommend her to everybody.
She is very friendly and we have great conversations each week. She is very familiar with the area I live in and I enjoy hearing about things that no longer here and that are still here.
