“I love my counselor! Kara is an amazing, empathetic therapist who actively listens and is fully locked in during your session. She asks important questions to lead you towards self reflection, and she also is able to match your energy no matter what you bring to the table. My prior therapist recommended her to me, and I am so grateful that he did! Kara has been such an integral part of navigating adulthood, my relationships, and my spirituality, every session with her is a treat. She is punctual, professional, but very warm and engaging. Getting to know Kara Resseguie

LCMHCA Professional Disclosure Statement Kara Resseguie, LCMHCA, License #A19558 My Qualifications In 2023, I received my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I will provide my associate license name and number here. I began my clinical fieldwork experience in September of 2022, and I currently hold two years of counseling experience. Restricted Licensure I am currently licensed as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in the state of North Carolina. This means I am under supervision and hold the credential of LCMHCA. My current supervisor’s name is CJ Leach and his contact information is below. CJ Leach MS, NCC, LCMHC Supervisor License #9420A Counseling Background I work with individual adults from the age of 18 and older. My focus is primarily with depression, anxiety, major life transitions, and C-PTSD. I use counseling techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and somatic- based modalities. My theoretical orientation is based in Person Centered Theory. I feel most comfortable sharing mindfulness-based practices with my clients from the perspective of client centered therapeutic relationships. I find that exploring consciousness within a psychotherapeutic environment is essential to one’s healing potential. I emphasize the cultivation of self-discovery, self – led empowerment, by working step by step throughout the client’s process at their own pace.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You don’t have to have the right words to explain what feels off in your life. Sometimes it shows up as tension in the body, feeling disconnected from yourself, or carrying a heaviness you can’t quite name. If you’re looking for a space where you can simply show up as you are—curious, uncertain, hopeful—you’re in the right place. Many people who find me feel drawn to spirituality or a deeper sense of meaning in their lives. I welcome that part of you too. Therapy with me is collaborative, compassionate, and rooted in the belief that healing is possible when body, mind, and spirit are all invited into the room.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our work together, we’ll slow down and gently listen to your body’s wisdom. I draw on somatic practices that help you reconnect with yourself in ways that feel grounding, nourishing, and real. This isn’t about “fixing” you—it’s about creating space for your whole self, including the parts that feel lost, stuck, or overlooked. You don’t need to know exactly what you’re struggling with to begin. You just need a willingness to take the first step—and together, we’ll discover what healing looks like for you.

I love my counselor! Kara is an amazing, empathetic therapist who actively listens and is fully locked in during your session. My prior therapist recommended her to me, and I am so grateful that he did! Her office space is beautiful and very comfy. I could not recommend her enough!
Every meeting I have with Kara is always something I honestly look forward to. I genuinely feel like our meetings have helped me keep space for my mental health and cope with whatever it is I need to talk about.
I loved every single session I had with Kara. She always made me feel validated and that my feelings and opinions mattered. I looked forward to every single session and was sad we had to miss one or reschedule. She never judged me for anything I told her or discussed, and always followed up from previous visits. She never made me feel weird or negative when I would tell her things that wasn’t normal (EX- my comfort movies being horror and slasher movies like IT and SAW). She would just let me ramble, even if it as incoherently because I was either mad or crying, and comforted me when necessary. I swear, sessions with Kara felt like I eas talking to my best friend. I could definitely open up without judgment. I will definitely miss having sessions with her.
Kara is compassionate and understanding. I think that having a therapist with these qualities is essential to newcomers to therapy as the idea of sharing so much may be new. Through her listening skills, Kara builds trust with the patient, allowing the patient to work through past experiences that have shaped them - whether they previously realized their aware of their impact or not. She's been a vital part of my growth over the past year and a half, and I recommend her highly.
