Psychotherapist
DE
Hello, I'm Karen. I work with people from all walks of life who are seeking support for a variety of life's challenges. My primary expertise lies in the experience of trauma and addictive patterns of reaction, both of which tend to result in feelings of depression and anxiety. I have also developed expertise in working with the LGBTQIA+ community and with women in transitional phases of their lives, addressing grief as a healing process that supports moving from suffering to hope. I believe psychotherapy is most effective when a therapeutic alliance is built, allowing me to learn about your perspective and assist in identifying ways in which you either react to or respond to your own life. With that awareness, I have hope that you can move from reacting to internal and external crises to more calmly making informed decisions about your own life. I think therapy lays the groundwork for a more empowered approach to living. If you are looking for a supportive environment in which to discover your own strengths and develop coping strategies that effectively address the issues creating internal suffering, I think my approach can be helpful. I believe that you are the expert in your own life experiences and that my role is to join you and offer perspective and guidance that allows you to discover how to move through whatever difficulty you are facing in a more empowered and self-aware way. I hold an MA and am a Licensed Professional Counselor. My specialties include addiction, family relationships, gender identity, grief/bereavement, LGBTQIA+ support, life transitions, multicultural/diversity issues, PTSD, spirituality, stress, and trauma. I offer SonderMind Video Telehealth for those who prefer or require remote sessions. I look forward to the possibility of working together and supporting you on your journey to healing and self-discovery.
