Getting to know Karen Collins

Karen Collins is a psychotherapist in private practice in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Originally from Ohio, she graduated from The Ohio State University with a Master’s in Social Work. She spent 8 years working at inpatient adult and adolescent psychiatric hospitals in Ohio while managing her private therapy practice and teaching at The Ohio State University. In 2012, she left the cold weather behind and moved to Jupiter, FL, where she began working at the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center for 10 years. During her time at the WPB VA Medical Center, she served Veterans in various roles, including Mental Health Therapist, Program Manager of the Post Deployment Clinic and the Caregiver Support Program, Supervisor of Homeless Programs, and Supervisor of programs serving Veterans with serious mental health conditions. Alongside her VA work, she maintained a private practice in Jupiter. In March 2022, she left the WPB VA Medical Center to focus entirely on her private practice, which relocated with her to Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Karen has published two books—one on relationships and another on managing depression—and authored a couples interactive co-journal. She is also developing additional journal series designed for situation-specific healing, addressing life events such as healing post-affair, moving forward after the end of a relationship, and healing after the death of a partner. Her published articles cover topics including relationships, depression, improving well-being, thriving during and after serious health issues, and reducing acute stress response. She also runs a YouTube channel, “Therapy with Karen Collins,” where she shares peaceful places, guided meditations, thought-provoking ideas, and segments on managing acute stress response and enhancing overall well-being to help prevent overreacting to stressors.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
