Hi there, I'm Karen! Welcome! My name is Karen Fatouros, and I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Licensed School Counselor, with certifications in substance abuse and hypnosis. I hold a Master's in Counseling from Adler University. I specialize in supporting adults through challenges like depression, anxiety, and life transitions, with a particular interest in working with LGBTQIA2S+ individuals and those within the school system. My approach My approach is eclectic, drawing from cognitive, behavioral, Adlerian, mindfulness, strength-based, and person-centered therapies. For those open to it, I also offer hypnotherapy as an optional tool to help achieve deeper peace. Let's work together to help you find balance and clarity on your journey. My focus I specialize in working with adults stuck in recurring patterns or facing significant life transitions. I'm passionate about helping individuals find their voice, improve coping strategies, and move past blocks like anxiety, depression, or stress. I spent 13 years working in schools, 11 years in a group home for intellectually disabled adults, and was a group therapist in a day program for the chronically mentally ill. I also support school employees and members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. My communication style I'm a down-to-earth, no-nonsense therapist who believes in giving it to you straight. At the same time, I'm deeply empathic and supportive as we work together to navigate life's hurdles. With 20 years of experience across various settings, my background helps me connect with people from all walks of life. My journey to mental healthcare I've known I wanted to be a counselor for as long as I can remember. Life is hard and not always fair. Growing up, I experienced many challenges-my parents' divorce, attending nine different schools, and witnessing the harsh realities of suicidal behavior, substance abuse, racism, and sexual harassment.
