Getting to know Karen Frontczak-armstrong

My name is Karen F. Armstrong. I have worked for over twenty years in the field of behavioral health, relationships, and addictions. In each area I counsel, I provide good listening skills and am nonjudgmental, insightful, and supportive. Through the years, I have provided support to help modify problem behaviors for those who suffer from anxiety, depression, poor coping, stress, grief, OCD, eating disorders, and addictions. I have also worked with couples, guiding them through relationship problems including affairs, money, stress, and any issues that occur within a relationship. I have assisted with family conflicts, communication barriers, and divorce, providing each family with tools to help navigate difficult times. For older adults, I have addressed issues that arise with aging, including chronic conditions, retirement, and children leaving home. When working with various addiction disorders, I have been taught to celebrate the good in life and to give oneself permission to seek support when needed. I am a good listener; my role is not to judge but to support and validate while exploring options and solutions to problems. I am here to help individuals sort through feelings and discover the reasons behind their mental health behaviors and relationships. I have also worked with trauma survivors in the areas of domestic violence, sexual abuse, and PTSD. I hold a Master's degree in Counseling from Northeastern Illinois University.
