Getting to know Dr. Karen Gordon

I look forward to meeting each client where they are, emotionally and behaviorally. I utilize evidence-based treatment approaches to address a variety of issues, including parenting, communication and values, grief and loss, trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions that may impair functioning. My goal is to empower clients to create the space, balance, time, and strength needed to process and embrace specific challenges. I remind them that this is a journey, and I will work together with them to reach their desired point. I have over 24 years of experience helping individuals and families. I enjoy the collaborative process aimed at improving mental health and well-being. I hold a PsyD in School-Community Psychology from Hofstra University and a Master's in Psychology from Long Island University.

I am committed to helping clients meet their goals and explore their personal mental health journey. By creating a compassionate space, where individuals can explore their mental health journeys with support and understanding, I assist in every step of this process and provide you with the tools needed to navigate these difficulties.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

First and foremost, building a therapeutic relationship with you is the number one priority. After this, the process involves gathering information from you at the very beginning to get a sense of your concerns and how these difficulties have impacted you across different areas of your life. With my experience and guidance, we work together to identify these areas, assess your needs, set goals, and discuss intervention(s) and evaluation.
