Getting to know Kari Black

I approach therapy with the belief that every person has the capacity to grow, no matter the barriers they face. Using evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing, I help individuals build coping skills, strengthen relationships, and move toward lives that feel meaningful and sustainable. I hold a Master of Social Work from The Ohio State University and a Doctorate in Social Work from the University of Kansas. I am licensed as an Independent Clinical Social Worker and Alcohol and Drug Counselor. My therapeutic philosophy emphasizes trauma-informed care, accountability, and the power of community in recovery.
