Getting to know Karin Clements

I have a passion for helping adolescents through adults with anxiety and depression, as well as supporting teens as they navigate the challenging teenage years. I utilize a variety of evidence-based approaches to improve your coping skills. Talk to me if you want someone to walk through your journey with you in a non-judgmental, compassionate manner. I have experience addressing the emotional aspects of chronic illness, mental health, anxiety, and depression. Fun fact: I have an interest in other cultures and spent a year in Bolivia as a volunteer. I also lived on the border with Mexico for four years, giving me a good understanding of Hispanic culture and the ability to speak Spanish moderately well. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Texas State University, which has equipped me with the skills to provide person-centered, compassionate, and participatory care. I love making a difference one person at a time and look forward to getting to know you. While I am a Christian, I am not judgmental if you are not. I offer a free 15-minute consultation so we can meet before starting therapy, if you would like.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I highly value empathy, giving you time to express yourself, and utilizing evidenced-based practices to help you improve your situation. This often involves things to work on outside of therapy. Your first visit will consist of initial paperwork and getting to know you by asking background information so we can come up with a plan to get you feeling better.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

After spending the first session getting to know you and your reason for coming in, we will explore different techniques to help you. I utilize a variety of approaches, depending on your needs. Therapy is a collaborative process, and the more you engage by completing tasks outside of therapy and sharing your experiences, the more effective it will be. Everything you share is confidential.

So far she is an excellent therapist. A great listener and truly seems concerned and interested in what I had to say.

I chose Karin because I thought she was both a Christian therapist and one who was trauma-informed. She is certainly a Christian counselor so if that is your most important quality, she's a good fit. If you are looking for someone who is trauma informed, hard pass. I found her to be dismissive of past trauma and decisions made in the aftermath of that trauma. After I told her I would seek a different therapist, her parting shot was untrue and unkind. I honestly felt retraumatized after seeing her
