Getting to know Dr. Karina Acevedo

I am a bilingual clinical psychologist who supports women across Florida through online therapy and comprehensive neuropsychological and psychological evaluations. My work focuses on helping women navigate anxiety, ADHD, autism, depression, trauma, chronic illness, relationship challenges, and life transitions. I use evidence-based treatments through a person-centered and integrative lens, helping you restore balance, build resilience, and develop practical skills for everyday life. My approach is warm, collaborative, and culturally responsive. I honor each woman’s story and provide a safe space where you feel seen, understood, and genuinely supported. Whether you’re seeking clarity, relief, direction, or deeper healing, my goal is to help you reconnect with your strengths, gain insight, and move toward meaningful emotional wellness and personal growth.

What should a new client know about working with you?

When you work with me, you will experience a therapeutic partnership grounded in respect, openness, and curiosity about your inner world. From the very first session, I invite you to share what brings you in, what you hope to change, and how you’ve been feeling. I value clear communication and encourage you to bring your questions, reactions, and reflections at any point in the process. Sessions with me are structured yet flexible. I tailor our work to your pace, your cultural context, and your lived experience. You can expect a warm and professional environment where we explore patterns, make sense of emotions, and build practical tools for everyday life. Whether you are seeking symptom relief, personal growth, or deeper insight, you’ll be supported with compassion, cultural sensitivity, and a sincere belief in your capacity to heal and change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process begins with a comprehensive intake where we explore your concerns, history, strengths, and goals. If needed, I integrate neuropsychological and/or psychological evaluations to clarify underlying patterns affecting mood, attention, learning, or cognitive functioning. This provides us with a clear roadmap for treatment. From there, we collaborate on an individualized, evidence-based plan. I draw from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based strategies, behavioral activation, and integrative approaches that honor both the science and your personal experience. In sessions, we combine insight-building with practical skills you can use between sessions. Your progress is reviewed regularly, and we adjust the plan as your needs evolve. My goal is not only to reduce symptoms but to help you build long-term resilience, deepen your self-understanding, and cultivate meaningful and sustainable emotional well-being.

More information on payments and coverage

I am credentialed with major commercial insurance plans in Florida, including Aetna, BCBS/Florida Blue, Cigna, and Optum, which also cover most affiliated sub-plans. I also accept private pay. After scheduling your initial appointment through Zocdoc, your care will be transitioned to our secure EHR system for all ongoing services. You will receive an invitation to create your patient portal profile, a process that typically takes no more than 10–15 minutes. Before your session, our team verifies your insurance eligibility and benefits so you know what to expect regarding coverage and costs. We require a card on file for copayments, deductibles, and any applicable fees, and we accept most major credit and debit cards. Once your profile is active, all scheduling, communication, and billing will occur through our HIPAA-compliant EHR system, where your mental health records and appointment information will remain securely stored. Our team is available to answer any questions you may have about coverage or payment responsibilities.
