Getting to know Karis Wold

Hello, I'm Karis Wold. I graduated from New York University with a Master's in Social Work in 2002, and over the last two decades, I've had the privilege of working in a variety of settings, including inpatient psychiatric care, substance abuse treatment, and community mental health. My journey in these diverse environments has deeply enriched my understanding and approach to therapy. I am dedicated to serving those who feel isolated and have had difficulties finding a safe space in therapy. My approach is solution-focused and goal-oriented, and I am passionate about tailoring my care to your feedback. I believe in the power of collaboration and actively involve you in the therapeutic process to ensure that our work together is meaningful and effective. I rely heavily on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills training, including mindfulness and helping clients craft life-worth-living goals. My practice is trauma-informed, and I have extensively studied DBT, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Prolonged Exposure Therapy. Whether you're dealing with anger management, anxiety, borderline personality disorder, depression, grief, life transitions, OCD, PTSD, stress, or trauma, I am here to support you. I also offer specialized support for the LGBTQIA+ community. When we work together, you can expect a compassionate and non-judgmental space where your voice is heard and valued. I am committed to helping you navigate life's challenges and achieve your personal goals. My aim is to empower you with the skills and insights needed to build a fulfilling and balanced life. Outside of my professional life, I value mindfulness and the continuous pursuit of knowledge. These values guide my practice and help me stay grounded and present with my clients. If you're ready to take the next step towards healing and growth, I invite you to reach out. Let's work together to create the life you envision.
