Hello, I'm Karla. My goal is to provide a nurturing, nonjudgmental, compassionate environment in which to heal from overwhelming feelings, negative thought patterns, and behaviors that hold you back from leading the life you are meant to live. I believe a collaborative approach is a must. Throughout my career, I have worked as a Clinical Director, Program Director, and Supervisor at numerous dual diagnosis treatment centers, focusing on clients suffering from Bipolar Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and Major Depressive Disorders. These experiences have shaped my understanding and approach to therapy, allowing me to offer a comprehensive and empathetic perspective. I am trained and certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a therapeutic modality that facilitates the rapid processing and healing of traumatic events from the past. This can be particularly beneficial for those dealing with PTSD, addiction, and negative self-beliefs that contribute to low self-esteem. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is another evidence-based modality I utilize. It helps identify the negative thought patterns, often learned in childhood, that lead to fear, anxiety, and an inability to move forward in life. Together, we will uncover these negative beliefs and shift that critical voice to one of self-compassion and empowerment, leading to change and growth. In addition, I incorporate Mindfulness-Based Practices and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) into my sessions. These approaches teach skills to help sit with uncomfortable emotions without turning to maladaptive behaviors, manage distress, communicate more effectively, and shift one’s relationships with others. If you are looking for a supportive and collaborative environment to work through your challenges, I am here to help. Let's embark on this journey together towards healing and growth.
