Getting to know Karla Peska

I am a pediatric psychotherapist with many years of experience working with children who show that they are not functioning well at home and school with "negative" behaviors or anxiety. Outbursts of anger, sadness, and fear, not following directions, arguing, and crying make life difficult for the family and the child. I help the child to understand themselves and help teach them how to function to the best of their ability. I guide and support parents to manage the behaviors and bring about family harmony. I enjoy helping a child to gain self-esteem and the "I Can Do It" attitude. As a licensed professional counselor (LPC), a Registered Play Therapist (RPT), and a graduate from The Dallas Art Therapy Institute's rigorous post-master's program, and with thousands of hours in continuing education, I have the tools to help children and their families to heal. I use play, art, and CBT therapies to bring families together in peace. This work is challenging, but the rewards are great! Being able to bring a family together and to help children become happy and productive is my passion!
