Getting to know Karolyn Estevez
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in NJ. I have a passion for connecting with my clients and helping them manage life stressors and complex emotions to help them live a more insightful, empowered, and supported life.
My approach
My therapeutic approach is centered around the therapeutic rapport I build with each client. I like to utilize a strength-based, culturally competent, compassionate, and empathetic approach. Every client is different, but I make sure to build relationships centered around trust, no judgment, and compassion to help my clients feel empowered and supported when working through life stressors.
My focus
I have a vast range of experience working with youth and adults. My experience is centered on the young adult population, ranging from 18-35 years old. I have worked with and supported clients through a range of life situations including ADHD, anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, self-esteem, stress, trauma, racial and cultural identity, and other wide range of mental health diagnoses.
My communication style
In practice, I aim to foster an environment that allows clients to feel comfortable to discuss some of their most deeply personal thoughts and feelings. My approach is centered around compassion and empowerment. As a Latina therapist, I approach all my clients with culturally competent lenses and can understand a vast range of issues that affect different communities. I aim to create a calm environment where my clients know that the time we have together is spent on them and working through any of their concerns and emotions.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always wanted to work in the mental health field since adolescence. My road to becoming a therapist started after I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at Rutgers University. I began working for a social services agency in New York, working as a case manager for at-risk families. This ignited a passion for serving my community.
