Karyn worked in the school setting, where she provided individual and group therapy. She was also an AB2726 assessor who conducted mental health assessments and case managed all levels of treatment, including outpatient, day treatment, and residential, with the goal of facilitating academic success.
For six years, Karyn managed one of the largest children’s mental health programs in San Diego County, providing in-home services to the highest-risk youth and their families. In this role, she supervised interns, licensed clinicians, and clinical supervisors. Karyn has both professional and personal experience with the issues military families face and has provided individual and couples therapy to service members and their spouses, as well as family therapy to military families. She also supervised the Navy’s rape crisis program and provided training and consultation to military leadership on sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse and neglect.
Karyn graduated from Chapman University in 1996 with a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy. She was licensed in 2002. Karyn enjoys working with school-aged children, adolescents, and young adults. Her experience with children and adolescents includes treating ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Disruptive Behavior Disorder and other behavioral disorders, depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders, child abuse and neglect, substance abuse, and youth struggling with related challenges.
