Getting to know Kasey Byrd
Personally, I am a mom of three small children, married to a firefighter, and striving to balance work, family, and personal life. I understand that life can feel overwhelming at times and relate to others who are doing their best. Professionally, I have always worked in education and mental health. I have taught kindergarten, junior high, and intermediate grades, with a focus on special education. I have also worked as a school counselor and maintain my school counselor license.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University, a Master’s in Counseling from Houston Christian University, and a MEd in Counselor Education from Texas A&M University.
As a mental health therapist, I have enjoyed working with a diverse population across all ages, from young children to older adults, focusing on meeting each person where they are. I work with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and other life challenges. My main focus in sessions is to help clients feel heard and seen, creating a safe and supportive environment.
I am very person-centered in my approach to therapy. I believe the client is the expert in their own life, and I am fortunate to join them on their journey. I also utilize cognitive-behavioral techniques, solution-focused strategies, and other interventions to help clients achieve their goals. Additionally, I enjoy incorporating EMDR therapy into sessions, as I am trained in that approach as well.
What should a new client know about working with you?
Clients can expect to feel heard and seen. I work with clients to identify their own personal goals for therapy, and make sure that we are focusing there first.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
