What should a new client know about working with you?

New clients should know that my approach is warm, practical, and collaborative. I want therapy to feel like a place where you can be honest about what is going on without feeling judged or pressured. I work with you to understand what is causing stress, what patterns may be keeping you stuck, and what tools can help you feel more confident and in control. My therapy style is structured but flexible. I often use CBT-informed strategies to help clients notice the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I also use DBT-informed skills to support emotional regulation, distress tolerance, communication, and coping. My background as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst also helps me look at patterns in behavior, environment, family systems, school stress, and daily routines that may be affecting how someone is functioning. I have worked primarily with adolescents, young adults, adults, and families. I often support clients dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism-related needs, emotional regulation challenges, school or work stress, family conflict, and life transitions. Clients can expect our first sessions to focus on getting to know each other, identifying your goals, and understanding what support would be most helpful. I believe progress happens when therapy feels supportive, realistic, and connected to your everyday life. My goal is to help you build insight, strengthen coping skills, and take practical steps toward feeling better.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My typical process starts with getting to know you, what is bringing you to therapy, and what you hope will feel different. The first session usually focuses on your current concerns, relevant background, symptoms, strengths, and goals. I also want to understand what has helped in the past, what has not helped, and what support would feel realistic for you right now. Ongoing sessions are collaborative and practical. We may talk through current stressors, identify patterns in thoughts, emotions, behavior, relationships, school, work, or family life, and build skills that can be used outside of session. I often use CBT-informed strategies, DBT-informed skills, and a behavioral lens to help clients better understand what is happening and create realistic steps toward change. A typical session may include checking in on recent challenges, reviewing progress toward goals, practicing coping or communication skills, and identifying one or two concrete things to work on between sessions. For adolescents, I may also include caregiver involvement when appropriate, while still respecting the client’s need for trust and privacy. My goal is for sessions to feel supportive, focused, and useful. Therapy does not have to be perfect or scripted. We will work together to create a pace and plan that fits your needs.

More information on payments and coverage

Echo Harbor Mental Health offers several payment and billing options. We can bill in-network insurance directly when we are contracted with your insurance plan. In those cases, we will process the insurance claim for you, and your financial responsibility will depend on your specific plan benefits, including any copay, deductible, coinsurance, or authorization requirements. We also offer private pay options for patients who prefer not to use insurance or who do not have an insurance plan that we accept. Private pay rates and payment expectations will be reviewed before services begin so there are no surprises. Some patients may also have out-of-network benefits. If you have insurance coverage but Echo Harbor Mental Health is not in-network with your plan, out-of-network billing may be an option depending on your specific insurance benefits. When available, this may allow services to be billed through your insurance even though we are not listed as an in-network provider. Insurance coverage varies by plan, and final coverage decisions are made by the insurance company. Patients are encouraged to review their benefits through their insurance member portal or by calling the number on the back of their insurance card. Helpful questions include whether outpatient behavioral health services are covered, whether telehealth is covered, what your deductible or copay may be, and whether you have out-of-network mental health benefits.
