What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to therapy is eclectic. I utilize varying modalities to meet the clients needs. I love to educate clients and am certified in neuropsychotherapy (NPT-C). I feel the more clients know about their specific mental health issue, the better they equipped they become to manage their own symptoms. I am also trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) which is cognitive behavioral in approach to treating PTSD in adults. I am also trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF- CBT) for the treatment of trauma in children. I use these modalities in many sessions to get to the root of trauma and decrease overall symptoms of PTSD.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session is an intake. This is where I gather information related to the clients symptoms and difficulties in order to make an accurate diagnosis and formulate a treatment plan with the client. Follow up sessions are directive in nature, however, I am also available to listen and give the client space to choose what they need in each individual session.
