Getting to know Katherine Flechaus

I'm an Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) providing evidence-based therapy for high-functioning adults navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, and difficult life transitions. Many of my clients are high-achieving people who look put-together on the outside but feel overwhelmed — whether that's from the weight of a major life change like a career shift, relationship transition, or new chapter, or from patterns like overthinking, people-pleasing, and boundary struggles that have built up over time. I help them understand what's driving these patterns and build practical, lasting strategies for change. My approach is collaborative and rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) — identifying unhelpful thought patterns, building healthier coping skills, and making choices aligned with personal values. Licensed in both New York and Florida, I offer 100% virtual sessions with flexible scheduling.2. What should a new client know about working with you?

What should a new client know about working with you?

I specialize in working with adults managing anxiety, depression, and the stress of relationship struggles or major life transitions — often clients dealing with overthinking, low self-worth, lack of direction, or difficulty making decisions. My approach is collaborative and grounded in CBT. I help clients understand the origins of unhelpful thoughts and behaviors, then build healthier ways of relating to themselves and others through practical strategies and new skills. This practice is built around ongoing, evidence-based therapy rather than single-session documentation requests, such as service or emotional support animal letters. I'm also not able to provide crisis intervention or treatment for severe and persistent mental illness (such as active psychosis). If you're currently in crisis, please call or text 988 or go to your nearest emergency room.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Therapy with me is about equipping you to create the life you want. Sessions go beyond just talking through problems — expect thoughtful questions that foster self-discovery and help uncover the thought patterns, emotional triggers, and habits keeping you stuck. Together, we build a tailored plan aligned with your goals, values, and circumstances. In the process, clients typically gain: • Increased self-awareness • Practical tools and coping strategies • A shift in perspective • Personalized action steps • Encouragement and motivation for lasting change My approach is collaborative, supportive, and focused on equipping you with skills that last well beyond our work together.

All sessions are conducted through Alma, a HIPAA-compliant platform that handles video sessions, record keeping, insurance processing, and out-of-pocket billing. Here's what to expect after you book: once I receive your appointment request through Zocdoc, keep an eye on your inbox for two emails — one from me at KF Counseling and Consulting, and one from Alma with a few quick intake forms. After those are completed, I'll send you a calendar invite through Alma confirming your requested date and time. It's a simple process, but it does involve a couple of emails, so please check your inbox (and spam folder, just in case!) in the days after booking.
